COLM BURke //

MOUNTAIN RESCUE LEAD

Colm has over 20 years experiencing climbing around the world, holds a rescue level 4 mountain first aid qualification and as a core member for Kerry Mountain Rescue, he specialises in the location and safe retrieval of casualties in extreme mountain conditions. On the course he covers all aspects of mountain medicine; from navigation and radio use to rope work, patient packaging and retrieval.

EMERGENCY AND

HUMANITARIAN MEDICINE LEAD

Jimmy is an Emergency Medicine consultant in the West of Ireland who has worked in Trauma, ICU, and EM in South Africa, Palestine, Liberia and Afghanistan respectively. He has a passion for emergency care systems and establishing standards in humanitarian programmes. He delivers talks on humanitarian medicine and leads the outdoor simulations.

PETER CONROY //

OCEAN RESCUE LEAD

Peter is a big wave surfer, lifeguard, chair of the Irish Tow Surf Rescue Association, paramedic and Advanced Wilderness Life Support instructor. He provides in-water assistance to surfers in some of the most dangerous waves on Earth. He provides hands on teaching on water safety, retrieval and resuscitation of a drowning victim and management of spinal injuries in the water.

lisa cunningham // pre-hospital emergency medicine lead

Lisa is an emergency medicine consultant and practicing HEMS doctor. A pre-hospital emergency medicine specialist, she splits her time between her native Mayo and her UK HEMS job, retrieving and treating the sickest patients. On the course she leads on all things PHEM

CALLUM SWIFT //

EXPEDITION MEDICINE LEAD AND COURSE DIRECTOR

Callum is an emergency medicine SpR and the founder of Wilderness Medicine Ireland. He holds a diploma with distinction in Tropical Medicine from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and has worked as an emergency physician in Liberia, Indonesia and South Africa and as an expedition doctor around the world.
